History
Home Court Advantage, Inc. is a small company founded in May 1999 by Jack and LeaAnn McCrimmon, Mark Glover, and Donna Aldridge. Two of these people continue to work for the company and serve on the Board of Directors.
The company was formed to meet a community need for treatment of boys with both mental retardation or developmental disabilities and psychiatric problems. Frequently, the psychiatric problems were evidenced by behavioral difficulties. The founders met with a number of state agencies and with the help of Jim Hare, then the Director of Area IV Division of Family Services, worked with the state to develop a program that would integrate the services of The Department of Mental Health, The Division of Family Services and Comprehensive Psychiatric Services. It was the first time in history of the state that any organization had attempted to unite services from all these agencies.
Home Court Advantage, Inc. first treatment facility was opened in Bolivar in the late spring of 2000. The company quickly expanded to three facilities and currently serves forty-six boys between the ages of 10 and 21.
Home Court Advantage, Inc. continues to grow and improve our services. Within the three treatment facilities we currently operate, we have a specialized program for boys between 16 and 21 (usually 17, 18 and 19 years of age) to help prepare these older boys for independent living or Supported Independent Living. At Home Court III we reserve the West end of the facility for younger individuals between the ages of 8 and 13 – utilizing more play therapy. We continue to look for new and unique methods of serving the individuals who reside with us.
